Monitoring

Monitoring is even more important than the active fight, and indispensable in industries, warehouses and private houses. It is based on the premise that early identification of the infestation source and the most affected areas gives us an advantage which enables us to solve the problems more easily and before they become critical. It is carried out both as a work in its own right and together with the active fight too, and allows us to understand what kind of pests are present (genus and species), their relative density, nesting and reproduction areas, and the trend of their population over time, and after the intervention it helps to assess the successful outcome of the intervention itself.

Monitoring, in principle and in its general realization, is similar for all pests it is used against, but it is extremely different in function of the kind of environment and insect being monitored. In fact, if on the one hand all the traps and devices must be installed, opportunely signalled and identified on the plan, we will use light traps with adhesive panel for positive phototropism animals, chromotropic traps for dipterans and some hymenoptera, pheromone traps for food pests, and food attraction, capture and adhesive traps for all other pests. Our skilled technicians will have the task of identifying their correct installation and placement, and the most suitable trap in terms of shape and attraction agent for the kind of pest we want to monitor.

COCKROACH MONITORING

Cockroach monitoring is carried out by installing a monitoring network through placing adhesive traps activated with attractive food or pheromones in the critical zones of the areas. Such traps are considered biological since they do not use poisonous bait but attract cockroaches which enter the traps and are caught on the adhesive surface. Adhesive traps are checked at regular intervals: in the first stage they supply information on the presence, species and population’s dynamics; in the following stages they give data related to the outcome of the interventions of targeted disinfestations. The monitoring through adhesive traps signals the occurrence of a new infestation, thus enabling the planning of the execution of suitable remedial actions.
